A baseball hat worn by the great Babe Ruth during a tour of Japan has sold for $303,277 on the Grey Flannel Auctions website.

According to the site, the navy-blue hat with a “U.S.” logo stitched in the front was the only cap worn by Ruth during a month-long tour that took place weeks after departing form the New York Yankees in 1934. He paraded around in an open-top limousine before over 500,000 Japanese supporters. Ruth and his teammates played 18 baseball games against Japanese opponents in 12 cities. It is the first Babe Ruth Tour of Japan cap that has ever surfaced, says Grey Flannel Auctions, sourced by the Ruth family over 30 years ago.

The slugger finished his 22-year career in 1935 and was named to Baseball’s hall of fame in 1936. Ruth remains third all-time with 714 home runs.
