Believe it or not, there are drawbacks to being an MLB superstar with a World Series ring, Cy Young Award, supermodel wife and an annual salary north of $20 million.

For example, you get overcharged for lunch as Justin Verlander discovered Friday.

The Houston Astros pitcher was charged an extra $1 million by the Beverly Hills Hotel for being a “Dodger Killer.”

Verlander is in Los Angeles for a series against the Angels but many baseball fans in the Beverly Hills area cheer for the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team Verlander helped the Astros defeat in the 2017 World Series.

Former tennis star Mardy Fish joined Verlander for lunch and also tweeted out a photo of the joke bill, which had more than $95,000 in taxes tacked on to the total.

Verlander is slated to start for his team on Saturday. If he has a subpar performance on the mound, let’s all agree to call it karma for him ordering a $42 salad.
