Sportsnet’s Stephen Brunt recently travelled to Texas, where he visited the home of new Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons.
The result is Up Close: The John Gibbons story, which aired Thursday night on Sportsnet.
At one point during the 30-minute feature the 50-year-old Gibbons — who managed the Blue Jays for 610 games from 2004-2008 — is asked how he feels about the roster he will be working with this time around.
“It’s like a fantasy league team if you want to know the truth,” Gibbons tells Brunt. “You look around baseball and who on paper has got a better lineup? There’s some good ones out there but I don’t think you can say anybody’s got more talent than we’ve put together.”
