MIAMI — Left-hander T.J. McFarland has been optioned to Triple-A Norfolk by the Baltimore Orioles, and they selected the contract of right-hander Chaz Roe from Norfolk.

The move was made before Sunday’s game in Miami to reinforce the bullpen following a 13-inning loss Saturday to the Marlins. McFarland pitched the final 1 1/3 innings and took the loss.

The Orioles await a decision from Major League Baseball regarding possible punishment of left-hander Brian Matusz, who was ejected from Saturday’s game for using a sticky substance. Because of the holiday weekend, a decision might not be made until Tuesday.

Left-hander Wesley Wright was transferred from the 15- to the 60-day disabled list with a strained left shoulder.

Roe was 3-1 with a 2.19 ERA in 17 relief appearances for Norfolk.
