MLB donates $200K to Philippines relief effort

ORLANDO, Fla. — Major League Baseball intends to donate $200,000 to UNICEF and the American Red Cross for disaster relief efforts in the Philippines following Typhoon Haiyan.

The announcement was made Thursday as baseball owners finished their quarterly meeting.

MLB said it will use the MLB Network and MLB.com to encourage support among fans for UNICEF and the Red Cross.
