MLB Trade Deadline Live Blog Recap: Blue Jays send pitching to Houston

Just like that, Justin Smoak is the only remaining link to the Blue Jays’ 2015-16 playoff teams on the club’s current roster.

After dealing Marcus Stroman to the Mets Sunday, the Blue Jays traded Aaron Sanchez, Joe Biagini and prospect Cal Stevenson to the Astros at the deadline, acquiring outfielder Derek Fisher in return. Earlier in the day, they moved Daniel Hudson to the Nationals in a separate trade for pitching prospect Kyle Johnston.

Staying put were Ken Giles, Justin Smoak and Freddy Galvis, though all drew interest from contenders ahead of the deadline. As the day unfolded, I weighed in on the latest news and rumours from Toronto and elsewhere in the baseball world…
