Blue Jays agree to trade Curtis Granderson to Brewers

Curtis Granderson had nothing but good things to say about his time in Toronto and how much he appreciated the fan support.

The Blue Jays have agreed to trade Curtis Granderson to the Milwaukee Brewers.

In exchange for Granderson, the Blue Jays received Demi Orimoloye, a minor-league outfielder from Orleans, Ont.

Granderson continues to offer power from the left side even at the age of 37, so he could bring value as a platoon or bench bat, particularly in September when expanded bullpens lead to more late-game matchups.

Granderson was hitting .243 with 11 home runs and a .769 OPS through 103 games with the Blue Jays. All of those homers came against right-handed pitching, and his .788 OPS against righties remains above-average.

Orimoloye, 21, has hit .247 with 12 home runs and 55 RBIs in 125 games at single-A.

The Blue Jays signed Granderson to a one-year, $5-million deal in January in the hopes that he could help them rebound from a tough 2017 season. After the team fell out of contention again, Granderson drew trade interest from rival teams and reportedly cleared waivers in August.

When the Mets traded Granderson to the Dodgers last August, they obtained a player to be named later in return.
