The Toronto Blue Jays and reliever Jake Petricka have agreed to a minor-league deal worth $950,000 that includes a spring training invite.

Petricka, 31, has a 3.96 ERA in 228 relief appearances over a seven-year career. He previously pitched for the Blue Jays in 2018, posting a 4.53 ERA and 8.1 strikeouts per nine in 45 2/3 innings.

Other MLB stops in his career include the Chicago White Sox (2013-17) and Milwaukee Brewers (2019).

The spring training invite gives Petricka the opportunity to make Toronto’s MLB club ahead of the 2020 season. But the Blue Jays’ 40-man roster is already full, which means they’d need to designate a different player for assignment to make room for Petricka.

The 31-year-old righty was a second-round pick by the White Sox in 2010.
