Ross Atkins: John Gibbons will finish season with Blue Jays

Tim and Sid discuss the significance of John Gibbons staying on as manager of the Blue Jays to close out the season.

Toronto Blue Jays general Ross Atkins says manager John Gibbons will remain with the team until at least the end of the 2018 season.

Atkins also confirmed that Gibbons’ future would be revisited afterwards.

Gibbons has skippered the Blue Jays to a 55-66 season, one in which superstar Josh Donaldson has been largely absent and shortstop Troy Tulowitzki has missed in its entirety thus far.

The 56-year-old has an overall record of 775-766 (.503) as a manager in the big leagues, all coming with Toronto.

He led the team to two memorable post-season runs in 2015 and 2016, which both concluded with losses in the American League Championship Series.
