NEW YORK — Retired Padres closer Trevor Hoffman and Moises Alou will be the managers for the All-Star Futures Game on July 10 in San Diego.
Hoffman, whose 601 saves trail only the 652 of the New York Yankees’ Mariano Rivera, was a seven-time All-Star who played for the Padres from 1993-08. He will manage the U.S. team, the commissioner’s office said Friday.
Alou, a six-time All-Star outfielder, will manage the World team. He helped assemble the Dominican Republic club that won the 2013 World Baseball Classic.
