Walker: Dyson’s ‘gutless’ actions lost in Blue Jays’ fight drama

John Gibbons spoke after an ugly Sunday game against the Texas Rangers about the brawl and why he entered the fray despite being ejected earlier in the game.

In the wake of the Toronto Blue Jays‘ fight with the Texas Rangers on Sunday, there are more opinions flying on the airwaves than there were punches on the field.

On Monday afternoon Andrew Walker added to the chorus on The Andrew Walker Show to point out a detail most fans likely missed: the actions with Rangers’ reliever Sam Dyson.

Dyson, who gave up the Jose Bautista home run that spawned the iconic bat flip, did play a role in the skirmish, but it wasn’t exactly an honourable one.

“Nobody is talking about Sam Dyson today, you want to talk about gutless?” Walker said. “He comes running out of the bullpen after Matt Bush has already done his dirty work and [Rougned] Odor has already done his dirty work because he can’t take care of himself. He comes running out, runs into the fray and sucker punches the Blue Jays’ bullpen catcher.”
