Team Canada has announced its roster for the final window of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.
National team staples including veteran brothers Thomas and Phil Scrubb, former BioSteel All-Canadian Game MVP Jahvon Blair, and reigning U Sports MVP Lloyd Pandi highlight team Canada’s roster, coached by former NBA head coach and Toronto Raptors assistant Nate Bjorkgren.
The Canadians will square off for a pair of games to conclude their second round qualifiers, first with Team Argentina on Thursday, then Sunday against Team Venezuela. Both games will be broadcasted on Sportsnet.
Canada currently holds a perfect 16-0 record throughout qualifying, including a 10-0 record in the second round, making them one of two teams worldwide without a loss. They’ll have the chance to become the first ever Canadian team sweep qualifiers in the nation’s history.
Team Canada has already punched their ticket to the 2023 FIBA World Cup, set to be held later this summer in Japan, The Philippines, and Indonesia, having clinched top spot in Group E.
Canada ranks 15th in the FIBA World Rankings.
