The Canadian men's basketball team has moved up three spots to No. 18 in FIBA's world rankings and is now placed fifth in the Americas, behind the United States, Argentina, Brazil and Venezuela.
The climb up the rankings comes after Canada made the FIBA Olympic qualifying tournament semifinal, but narrowly lost to the Czech Republic in overtime despite being without NBA stars like Jamal Murray and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
The top three highest-ranked countries in the world remain the same, with the United States ranked No. 1, followed by Spain and Australia.
Slovenia climbed a significant 12 spots into No. 4 following a Luka Doncic-led Olympics that saw the country finish fourth. As Olympic silver medallists, France jumped from No. 7 to No. 5 following the Games.
