UConn star Azzi Fudd forgoing WNBA Draft to return for senior year

The Toronto Tempo's inaugural draft pool just got a little deeper.

University of Connecticut star Azzi Fudd will forgo the upcoming WNBA Draft and return to school for her senior season next year, she posted on social media Tuesday.

The decision sets Fudd up to enter the WNBA in 2026, when the expansion Tempo will make their first entry-draft selections and subsequent debut.

Fudd, 22, teamed with Paige Bueckers to lead the second-seeded Huskies into the Sweet 16 with a pair of blowout wins over Arkansas State and South Dakota State during March Madness.

They'll meet No. 3 Oklahoma on Saturday with a trip to the Elite Eight on the line.

Bueckers made the same decision as Fudd last year, choosing to return to Storrs, Conn., for her final year under famed head coach Geno Auriemma. She's now expected to be the No. 1 pick.

The five-foot-11 Fudd appeared in a career-high 30 games this season, averaging 13.4 points, two rebounds and 1.8 assists while knocking down 45.3 per cent of her three-point attempts. She has also posted highs in assists (53) and steals (36).
