Kentucky men’s basketball team and the University of Louisville women’s basketball team will represent Team USA in the 2023 GLOBL JAM showcase.
An international basketball showcase featuring top under-23 teams, GLOBL JAM will return to Toronto with the second edition of the event running from July 12-16.
Mirroring the inaugural showcase from 2022, this summer’s festivities will once again centre around GLOBL JAM FIVES — the under-23 tournament at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
Canada, Louisville, Puerto Rico, and the African Continent U23 Women’s Select Team will compete in the women’s tournament.
Louisville has added six newcomers out of the transfer portal with five of those players committing since the end of the season. Four players return from last year’s roster, including Merissah Russell, who played as part of the Canada’s team in last year’s GLOBL JAM showcase.
Canada, Kentucky, Germany, and the African Continent U23 Men’s Select Team will be in the men’s event.
Kentucky has a strong connection to Canada with former Wildcats like Jamaal Magloire (1997-2000), Trey Lyles (2015), Jamal Murray (2016), Mychal Mulder (2016-17) and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (2018) playing for the team in their journey to the NBA.
Canada won the women’s event last year with current UConn star Aaliyah Edwards named tournament MVP., while Brazil took the men’s crown.
Tickets for the event, starting at less than $20 for a two-game session, are now available through Ticketmaster. All the games will be broadcast on Sportsnet and SN NOW.
The GLOBL JAM FESTIVAL presented by Flair Airlines will also take over Yonge-Dundas Square from July 7-9.
The event will feature the 3×3 Canada Quest National Final and the Superfan and Friends Charity 3×3 Game.
