TORONTO — Canada qualified for the 2015 under-19 men’s basketball world championship Sunday with a 91-70 win over Puerto Rico.
Dillon Brooks scored 26 points on 9-17 shooting for Canada while pulling down six rebounds and picking up six steals. Teammate Chris Egi had 20 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks.
Victor Jusino, who finished with 13 points on 6-of-6 shooting, led Puerto Rico.
"Extremely proud of our 12 athletes and our staff, on coming together and accomplishing stage one of our goal, qualifying for the 2015 worlds in Crete, Greece," head coach Roy Rana said in a statement. "Next stage, the hunt for a medal. Canada should take great pride in what these kids have accomplished and more importantly the way they have represented our nation."
