The NBA announced the all-star reserves Thursday night as selected by the league’s coaches and as is always the case when there is a limited roster size, there are a few players that failed to make the cut resulting in a raised eyebrow or two.
The most notable exception appears to be Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, who’s exclusion from the game caused more than few NBA players to make take up his case on Twitter.
Los Angeles Lakers guard Steve Nash and Miami Heat forward LeBron James were both pretty diplomatic on the subject:
Congrats to all the all stars. @stephencurry30 is having an all star season, too.
— Steve Nash (@SteveNash) January 25, 2013
Always believe there should be 15 on both rosters so there’s no snubs. #East– B.Jennings, J Smooth, PP #West– S.Curry, J.Crawford, M.Gasol
— LeBron James (@KingJames) January 25, 2013
James also provided a word of warning for all of the first-time all-stars of which there are five:
Congrats the all the All-Stars this year! Well deserved and especially S/O to the 1st timers! Don’t air ball that 1st shot. Hahaha
— LeBron James (@KingJames) January 25, 2013
Curry was also pretty diplomatic in his response as he congratulated teammate David Lee, who will be making his second appearance in the game.
Congrats to my bro @dlee042 representing #DubNation in Houston. Proud teammate. Lets go
— Stephen Curry (@StephenCurry30) January 25, 2013
Lee seemed pretty happy but believed Curry should be in there.
So proud to be representing the Warriors & the Bay in Houston..Bittersweet moment because my bro @stephencurry30 deserves it as well! #GSW

Atlanta Hawks forward Anthony Tolliver, who played for Golden State during the 2009-10 season, raised a questionable concern:
No way @stephencurry30 should’ve been left off the #WestAllStar reserves! Keep grinding bro…coaches hatin’ on you cuz ur light skinned!
— Anthony Tolliver (@ATolliver44) January 25, 2013
Another former teammate of Curry’s, Carl Landry, who now plays for the Sacramento Kings, believes that maybe the wrong people are picking the reserves:
Coaches shouldn’t be allowed to select the All-Star reserves anymore….The players should do the selecting!!!
— Carl Landry (@CarlLandry) January 25, 2013
A pair of Sixers (Evan Turner, Damien Wilkins) also spoke up in favour of Curry.
shocked that steph curry didnt make all star. i thought he deserved it.
— evan turner (@thekidet) January 25, 2013
I thought @jcrossover and @stephencurry30 should’ve been all stars this year. My opinion

As did a couple of rookies in Phoenix Suns point guard Kendall Marshall and Warriors forward Draymond Green.
Wow, thought Curry woulda made it. He’s had as great of a year as any PG in the league. Shows how loaded the west is.
— Kendall Marshall (@KButter5) January 25, 2013
Crazy that @stephencurry30 didn’t make it but…. Still an all-star
