Marvin Bagley III is the top high school basketball player in the class of 2018 and an early favourite to be the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
But as impressive as the 18-year-old Bagley has been on the court, DeMar DeRozan of the Toronto Raptors reminded the young baller that he still has a way to go before reaching NBA all-star level.
The two faced off against one another this past weekend in the Drew League summer tournament and, when Bagley squared up to defend DeRozan, the Raptors guard did not hold back.
To be fair, DeRozan did politely hand the ball to Bagley afterwards.
Bagley, a six-foot-11 power forward with the skills of a guard, did respond well, finishing the game with 32 points.
The Drew League is a summer basketball tournament in South Central, L.A., that matches up 28 invitation-only teams, made up mostly of streetball legends, collegiate players and NBA stars.
It’s not the first time that DeRozan, a native of South Central, has put on a clinic at the Drew League. In the past, he’s gone viral for crowning fellow NBA star James Harden with a vicious dunk and then going off from behind the arc to drop a triple-double on the opposing team.
