As Toronto Raptors fans clamour for new information on whether Kawhi Leonard stays or not, former Raptor and ESPN commentator Jalen Rose may just have given them the greatest glimmer of hope yet.
“What I’m 99 per cent hearing is that Kawhi Leonard will be returning to Toronto and signing a two-year contract,” Rose said on ESPN’s Get Up Wednesday.
With two more seasons of service time, Leonard will hit the 10-year mark in the summer of 2021, which would make him eligible for a max contract worth 35 per cent of the cap.
“He’s just completing his eighth season and that’ll put him at 10 years and will put him in position to get the largest available maximum deal for a player of his tenure,” Rose continued.
