Which Raptor would survive a zombie apocalypse? Who has the most impressive autograph collection? Did Luis Scola get emotional at the end of Fast & Furious 7? (Hint: hell yes). Why is Terrence Ross singing Alice Cooper? Every day until the season starts, a new player steps in front of the lens and answers the tough questions so you can get to know your Toronto Raptors. Up next, Luis Scola has dunk amnesia.

There could be an interesting rivalry developing within the Toronto Raptors. Two of their youngest talents, Bruno Caboclo and Lucas Nogueira, are Brazilian. And their eldest, 35-year old Luis Scola, is Argentinian. Anyone who knows anything about international soccer knows that these two countries are fierce competitors and their athletes an extension of that.
It might be two against one, but when it comes to experience this one isn’t even close. Scola is an eight-year NBA vet who missed only nine regular season games in that span. While he’s no slouch statistically, it’s his veteran presence that was the driving force behind the Raptors signing him (of course, the fact that he’s a steady, reliable source of offense at the power forward position doesn’t hurt, either).
It remains to be seen if Scola will be a part of the Raptors starting five, but like so many of the new Raptors, he’ll be hard to miss regardless. And with 37 playoff games on his resume, his importance might be measured more in his ability to provide tutelage to young Raptors, particularly those looking to transition into the NBA.
Just as long as the conversations steer clear of international soccer, of course.
