Toronto mayor John Tory has proclaimed that Saturday will be “Toronto Raptors Day”, as the Raptors get set to face the Washington Wizards in the NBA Playoffs.
The Raptors set a new franchise record with 59 wins this season, and will tip off in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal at home on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. ET. (The game can be seen on Sportsnet One.)
Encouraging “everyone in our city to show our support and appreciation for this incredible team,” Tory is hoping to showing the Wizards “what home-court advantage really means” as part of his declaration.
The City of Toronto did a similar thing in 2014, after the Raptors fell in seven games to the Brooklyn Nets.
