SALEM, Ore. — Two brothers allege that people standing near Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard assaulted them after one of the victims took a photo of the NBA Rookie of the Year.

The brothers tell Portland television station KGW that the suspects were Lillard’s “entourage,” but police say they haven’t determined whether they are associated with the player.

Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson says Lillard spoke with officers and “is not a suspect” in the assault. Simpson says the brothers had facial injuries and were treated at the scene after the scuffle early Saturday morning in a downtown nightlife district. They were not taken to a hospital.

The Blazers say they’re aware of the incident and based on preliminary reports, none of their players is considered a suspect in the case.
