Entering the 2010-11 season, new Brooklyn Nets guard Jason Terry had an image of the Larry O’Brien Trophy tattooed on his bicep. At the time he was a member of the Mavericks and Dallas eventually hoisted the real-life version of the trophy at season’s end as NBA champions.
Last season, he moved to Boston and had an image of the Celtics’ leprechaun logo spinning the O’Brien trophy imprinted on his left bicep. The season didn’t end as well for Boston as they were eliminated from the playoffs in the second round but he will continue with the tradition this season.
He told Newsday’s Dan Duggan that he intends to “BK All Day” added to the collection although he won’t reveal the location of the artwork until the Nets tip off their season against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Oct. 30.
“I’m a very superstitious guy, but every community I come involved with, I just take it on,” Terry said. “That’s what the tattoo symbolizes. It means something to me. Being a Boston Celtic, that means something. I’ve been blessed and fortunate to play for a lot of great franchises, and this is just another one.”
