Rapper Wale calls out Raptors’ announcer

Call Wale (pronounced wall-A, not whale) a “local rapper” and you’ll be the one laying on his next track.

Wale, who was sitting courtside at the Toronto Raptors-Washington Wizards game Tuesday night, was seen heckling Raptors small forward Rudy Gay, leading to his appearance on the Toronto broadcast.

Raptors TV play-by-play announcer Matt Devlin was in the midst of explaining what was going on when he mentioned that Wale was a “well known local rapper…locally.” Also saying “Wale is inspiring. I’m sure somebody on Twitter can tell me exactly if they’ve heard of Wale. He’s not Drake, that’s for sure.”

The Grammy Award nominee, who has over two million Twitter followers, didn’t take it too kindly to Devlin’s comments.

The “local Washington rapper” even confronted Devlin about it.

After a one-on-one conversation, everything between Wale and Devlin seemed to be cleared up.

Wale also clarified that he wasn’t chirping Gay as the two are friends.
