New York Knicks forward Andrea Bargnani may be forced to miss this summer’s Eurobasket tournament in Slovenia due to a respiratory tract infection, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian forward will miss a warm-up on Wednesday versus Georgia as Bargnani has been forced to shut down all activity because of the virus which brought on a high fever.

“The absence of Andrea Bargnani because of this fever is one more problem in our preparations,” Italy coach Simone Pianigiani said of his injury-riddled club.

“It disrupts our technical process by not allowing us to make use of options that only a center with the characteristics of ‘il Mago’ can give us.”

The Italians kick off the tournament against Russia on Sept. 4th leaving the former Toronto Raptor with a few weeks to get back into playing shape.
