After 14 seasons in the NBA, Jose Calderon is ready to call it quits.

The 38-year-old is set to retire and join the National Basketball Players Association as special assistant to the union’s executive director, Michele Roberts, according to The Washington Post’s Ben Golliver.

Calderon has yet to formally announce his retirement or file the paperwork with the league, but said he doesn’t miss playing.

“I know my weaknesses and I’m always honest with myself,” Calderon told The Post.

“I wasn’t sure if I was going to be happy with the role that I had last year. I wasn’t playing, just helping and traveling the same amount. I was starting to miss my family a lot. I was watching a game the other day and I didn’t wish I was playing, which makes everything easier. When is the right time to say that this is it? [My retirement] is not official, but it’s almost. It’s about time. Maybe in the next couple of weeks I’ll make an official announcement and file the papers.”

The Spanish guard signed with the Toronto Raptors in 2005 and spent nearly eight seasons with the club, averaging 10 points and 7.2 assists while setting an NBA-record 98.1 free throw percentage during the 2008-09 season.

Calderon was traded to the Detroit Pistons during the 2013 season, and also had stints with the Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Atlanta Hawks and Cleveland Cavaliers.

He averaged 8.9 points and 5.8 assists across his career.

Calderon spent 2018-19 with the Pistons, recording 2.3 points and 2.3 assists in just 12.9 minutes.
