Report: GM D’Alessandro bolts Kings for Nuggets

The Sacramento Kings have posted a 57-107 record in the two seasons since GM Pete D’Alessandro was hired, yet apparently that wasn’t enough to scare away the Denver Nuggets, who are reportedly bringing D’Alessandro on board with a “high ranking” front office position. This, from Adrian Wojnarowski:

D’Alessandro’s major failing in his time with the Kings was his inability to capitalize on a talent like DeMarcus Cousins, who spent the last two years surrounded by a weak roster void of a dynamic point guard. But it’s not hard to see why the notion of new pastures is appealing to D’Alessandro given how hands-on Kings owner Vivek Randieve is known to be. Which is to say, very. Watch how on draft night last year D’Alessandro (bald in glasses) barely gets a word in while Randieve makes the pick:

On March 3, Randieve appointed former Kings star Vlade Divac as Vice President of Basketball Operations despite no NBA experience in that role. Among Divac’s responsibilities was to advice the front office on all basketball-related decisions.

This is D’Alessandro’s second stint with Denver. In 2010 he was hired by then-Nuggets GM Masai Uriji and stayed with the organization until the Kings offered him their GM job three years later.
