Jerry Stackhouse has joined the Memphis Grizzlies as an assistant coach to J.B. Bickerstaff, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Stackhouse was the head coach of the Toronto Raptors‘ NBA G League affiliate Raptors 905 and interviewed for both Toronto and New York’s head coaching positions after they became available.
The 43-year-old led the 905 to back-to-back finals appearances including winning it all in the 2017 season. Stackhouse built a reputation for fostering teams with strong defensive principles and played a key role in the development current Raptors Fred VanVleet, Pascal Siakam and Norman Powell.
As a player, Stackhouse completed 18 seasons in the NBA and was named an all-star twice.
