After missing out on prized power forward LaMarcus Aldridge, the Los Angeles Lakers are close to finalizing a deal to acquire Roy Hibbert in a trade with the Indiana Pacers, according to Yahoo! Sports reporter Adrian Wojnarowski.
Hibbert is coming off a sub-par year by his standards, averaging 10.6 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game in 2014-15.
When at his best, the Georgetown product is one of the league’s marquee traditional centres, earning all-star berths in two of his seven NBA seasons.
The 28-year-old was originally drafted by the Toronto Raptors, but was sent to Indiana on draft night and has spent his entire career in a Pacers uniform.
Los Angeles is reportedly likely to send a package of draft picks and rights to overseas players to Indiana. Financial details are also being finalized.
