Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving reportedly underwent an MRI that revealed he suffered a medial ligament sprain in his right knee, and will have his timeline for returning to the court re-evaluated in one week, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
One night after scoring a season-high 54 points, Irving was on the court holding his knee for several minutes before limping off in the fourth quarter of the Nets’ loss to the Washington Wizards.
The 27-year-old, who has a history of knee injuries, also missed nearly two months at the beginning of the season with a shoulder issue.
Irving is averaging 27.4 points and 6.4 assists over 20 games with Brooklyn.
