Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam is seeking a maximum contract extension with the club, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports (subscription required).
As revealed on the team’s media day, Toronto’s had “conversations” with Siakam’s representation and, according to Charania, it would appear those discussions have centred around on either a four-year, $130-million extension or a five-year, $170-million contract.
Toronto has until Oct. 21 to sign Siakam to an extension, otherwise he becomes a restricted free agent in the summer of 2020.
In Siakam, the Raptors have what appears to be a two-way rising star who is expected to be the team’s offensive focal point this season after a breakout 2018-19 that saw him average 16.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists on 54.9 per cent shooting, and raising his game even more in the post-season with averages of 19.0 points and 7.1 rebounds.
