The Slam: Zach LaVine is a 360 free-throw line dunking alien

“The Moment” is a weekly feature running every Friday showcasing the NBA’s best highlight of the week.

Should he opt to do it for a third straight year, just pencil Zach LaVine in for a third straight NBA slam dunk contest title.

Just when you think you’ve seen every trick in the Minnesota Timberwolves guard’s bag, you see a clip of him doing this in practice:

Rest assured, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. That’s LaVine casually doing a 360 slam just one foot inside the free-throw line, with footage coming courtesy of Timberwolves blogger Ryan Schmidt.

Is LaVine the greatest dunker we’ve ever seen in the NBA? After seeing that, how can you argue against it?

He convincingly won the 2015 contest with stuff that had never been seen before.

And even though Aaron Gordon was likely robbed of the title last year, LaVine still walked away with the prize and proved he had just a little more up his sleeve.

Now he’s doing full 360s from the spot that gave Michael Jordan his “Airness” nickname.

So I’m calling it now, should LaVine — who, by the way, is enjoying a breakout season averaging 19.0 points per game on 44.9 per cent shooting including 39.1 per cent from three-point range — enter the dunk contest, he will win.
