PHOENIX — The Phoenix Suns have signed first-round draft pick Devin Booker.

The 18-year-old out of Kentucky was the 13th pick overall.

The Suns, who made the announcement Monday, are hoping Booker will add some much-needed outside shooting ability. He is participating on the Phoenix entry in the Los Angeles Summer League.

The 6-foot-6 Booker, the youngest player available in the recent NBA Draft, was the sixth man for Final Four participant Kentucky last season, averaging 10 points while shooting 47 per cent from the field, including 41 per cent from 3-point range.

Booker will compete with Archie Goodwin and newly signed free agent Sonny Weems for playing time as a reserve shooting guard behind starters Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight.

Under the NBA’s rookie salary schedule, the four-year contract could be worth up to $10 million.
