The Phoenix Suns will induct two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Steve Nash into the Suns Ring of Honor today. The ceremony will take place at Talking Stick Resort Arena during tonights halftime show when the Suns host the Portland Trail Blazers.
The British Columbia native played 10 seasons with the Suns between 1996 (when he was drafted 15th overall in the First Round) and 2012. In 2004-05, Nash led the Suns to the Western Conference Finals and earned his first MVP. The following season, Nash and the Suns made another appearance in the Conference Finals, and Nash was named MPV again, having led the league in assists and free-throw percent. By the end of his career, Nash was an eight-time All-Star (six times with the Suns) and led the Suns in all-time assists, 3-pointers, and free-throw percentage.
Nash will join Alvan Adams, Charles Barkley, Tom Chambers and 10 other former Suns in the Ring of Honor. To commemorate the occasions, the current roster will rock Nash-inspired socks (which will apparently be available for purchase here later tonight).
