Ronda Rousey was transported to a local hospital in Melbourne, Australia following her knockout loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193.
Early indications are that Rousey suffered only minor injuries and the hospital trip was more of a precaution than anything.
“She was transported because she got knocked out,” UFC president Dana White told reporters at the post-fight press conference. “Her lip was split in half. They had to sew her lip. They transported her.”

White said he spoke to Rousey briefly before she went to the hospital.
“Obviously she’s completely bummed out and depressed,” White added. “That’s it.”
Holm (10-0) was able to evade Rousey’s attack unlike the former champion’s previous opponents. The multiple-time boxing world champion utilized her footwork, controlled the distance well, landed strong punches and avoided the ground game in the opening round. In the second frame, Holm landed a kick to Rousey’s head and several follow-up punches before the referee called a stop to the fight.
Rousey (12-1) was a massive favourite heading into the bout. Holm’s win is considered by many to be the biggest upset in UFC history.
The attendance at UFC 193 was 56,214, which set a new company record. The previous record was 55,724 set at UFC 129 in Toronto back in 2011.
