After an extended injury saga, Alphonso Davies' health looks to be on the upswing.
The Canadian star left back has returned to Bayern Munich's starting 11 for his club team's final pre-season friendly tilt against FC Heidenheim on Tuesday, the team announced before kick-off.
It's been some time since Davies started for either club or country, with his last lineup selection coming on April 28 in the first leg of Bayern's Champions League semifinal showdown against Paris Saint-Germain.
He has suited up since then, coming on as a substitute in a Bundesliga, Champions League and World Cup game for Canada, but has had his health closely monitored after dealing with several injuries. He also appeared as a substitute in a friendly game against RB Leipzig on Aug. 15.
The 25-year-old has been on and off the pitch since suffering a torn ACL in late March, 2025, during a Concacaf Nations League match for Canada, and has dealt with a string of hamstring issues since returning from that major injury.
Davies only played one game for Canada at the World Cup, coming on for 15 minutes as a substitute in a Round of 32 showdown against South Africa, which saw Canada earn its first knockout-stage victory at the tourney.
