Ailing Alouettes QB Cody Fajardo not starting vs. Roughriders

After being limited in practice all week, Montreal Alouettes quarterback Cody Fajardo did not start Friday night’s home game against his old team, the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The team said Caleb Evans was to start.

Fajardo was listed as a game-time decision on Thursday because of a shoulder injury.

Fajardo entered the week third in the CFL with 1,877 passing yards this season, helping lead the Alouettes to a 4-3 start.

The Als signed Fajardo in the off-season after the Roughriders inked former Alouettes QB Trevor Harris.

Fajardo was benched by Saskatchewan late last year and the Roughriders went on to miss the playoffs.

With the latest Fajardo news, just three teams (Winnipeg, Toronto and Calgary) have started the same quarterback for every game this season.

The number could go down to two next week after Blue Bombers star QB Zach Collaros exited with an upper-body injury in a win over the Edmonton Elks on Thursday.
