The Montreal Alouettes have signed contract extensions for quarterback Vernon Adams Jr., running through the 2023 season, and receiver Eugene Lewis who agreed to a one-year deal with the club.

Adams Jr. played eight games for the Alouettes during the 2021 season before suffering a season-ending injury. He threw 1,949 yards completing 142 of his 239 passes for 14 touchdowns and was named a week five player of the week.

In October, the 28-year-old's season ended early after sustaining a shoulder injury. As a CFL starter, the Pasadena, Calif., native, has a 17-10 record.

Lewis scored nine touchdowns on 62 receptions for 964 receiving yards earning the 28-year-old his first All-Star selection.

"It's a great day for the Alouettes family", said Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia. "These players have the team's success at heart and are true leaders on our team. Even while sidelined, Vernon wanted to stay close to his teammates and be involved. Eugene continues to be a premier target for the Alouettes and always does everything he can to help his team win."
