The undefeated Montreal Alouettes are facing their first real adversity of the 2024 season.
In Thursday's game against the Toronto Argonauts, Montreal starting quarterback Cody Fajardo was forced to exit the game with an apparent leg injury.
Fajardo suffered the injury as he rolled out and was shoved by an Argonauts defender near the end of the first quarter. He stayed on his feet, but immediately came up limping holding the back of his right leg and headed straight for the team's locker room.
He was replaced by backup quarterback Caleb Evans.
Fajardo is one of the current favourites to bring home the 2024 CFL most outstanding player award after leading the defending Grey Cup champions to a 5-0 start. He was named 2023 Grey Cup MVP after leading the Alouettes to their first Grey Cup since 2010.
The 32-year-old signal caller came into Thursday's game third in the league in both passing yards (1,574) and and touchdowns (10).
Fajardo is in his eighth CFL season and has played in 115 career regular-season games with the Alouettes, Saskatchewan Roughriders, B.C. Lions and Argonauts.
