Winnipeg Blue Bombers star quarterback Zach Collaros was ruled out of the remainder of Thursday's game against the Edmonton Elks after being on the receiving end of a hit in the second quarter.
After Winnipeg's comeback win, coach Mike O'Shea said Collaros has an upper-body injury. He had no further update.
Collaros was trying to get away from pressure when he tried to throw a pass while falling and was intercepted by Loucheiz Purifoy, who returned it for a touchdown to give the Elks a 22-0 lead.
Collaros also was hit on the play by Kony Ealy. While it appeared to be a late hit, there was no penalty on the play.
Dru Brown replaced Collaros.
Collaros has been the CFL's most outstanding player the past two seasons. He has guided the Blue Bombers to the past three Grey Cup games.
Collaros entered Thursday's game leading the CFL with 2,292 passing yards this season.
Injuries to starting quarterbacks have been a major problem for the CFL in recent years.
Collaros is one of only four quarterbacks this season to have started every game for his team.
