The Montreal Alouettes are getting a big piece of their defence back.
Defensive lineman Lwal Uguak has re-signed with the Alouettes, the club announced Wednesday.
The Edmonton native was cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after the NFL pre-season.
The Als picked Uguak in the first round (seventh overall) of the 2023 CFL Draft.
Uguak helped the Als win the Grey Cup last year, recording 11 defensive tackles and three pass knockdowns in the playoffs.
"We are very happy to have Lwal back with us," Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia said in a statement. "In his first year in 2023, he improved at an incredible pace in every game. He was a force for our defence in our successes, and we are all excited to have him back on our team."
