B.C. Lions star quarterback Nathan Rourke was listed as a limited participant in practice on Tuesday for the first time since suffering a Lisfranc sprain in his right foot in late August.
The Lions posted video of the Canadian throwing the ball at practice on Twitter.
Rourke underwent surgery shortly after suffering the injury on Aug. 19 in a win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
At the time of the surgery, the Lions said they were hopeful the Victoria native might be able to make a return late in the season or for the playoffs.
The Lions (10-5) have three games left and know they will be playing in the West semifinal on Nov. 6.
Rourke, a first-year starter, was putting up excellent numbers and was a leading candidate to win the league's most outstanding player award before suffering the injury.
The league has been looking for a standout Canadian quarterback for decades -- and Rourke, 24, seemed to be the elusive man for that designation before he went down.
The Lions are 8-1 with Rourke and 2-4 without him.
Veteran Vernon Adams Jr., acquired in a trade with the Montreal Alouettes after Rourke's injury, is the current B.C. starter.
