The Montreal Alouettes signed kicker David Cote to a contract extension through the 2024 season Tuesday.
Cote, of Quebec City, made 44-of-51 field goal attempts last season, his 86.3 per cent ratio standing fourth among league kickers. Cote, 26, booted 16 field goals of 40 or more yards, tops in the CFL.
The six-foot-four, 215-pound Cote made six of the seven field goals he tried in the playoffs. After downing Hamilton 28-17 in the East Division semifinal, Montreal lost 34-27 to Toronto in the conference final.
Cote is entering his third CFL season.
"Since his arrival in Montreal, this young man has never ceased to impress us with his talent and how he remains cold-blooded, which is the strength of good kickers," Alouettes GM Danny Maciocia said in a statement. "We are extremely pleased to be able to count on his excellent services for even longer."
