Ted Goveia is coming home.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are set to hire the product of nearby Burlington, Ont., to be their general manager, Rick Zamperin of the The 5th Quarter Show reported Tuesday.
Goveia has been a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers' front office since 2013. He was promoted to senior assistant general manager after the team's 2019 Grey Cup win.
The Blue Bombers have appeared in five consecutive Grey Cup games.
Goveia replaces Ed Hervey, who was hired as GM of the Edmonton Elks earlier in the off-season.
Before joining the scouting staff of the Toronto Argonauts in 2010, Goveia spent 15 years coaching at the Canadian university level, including four with Hamilton's McMaster Marauders.
The Ticats finished last in the CFL East this year at 7-11 and haven't won the Grey Cup since 1999, the league's longest active drought.
