Hamilton Tiger-Cats starting quarterback Dane Evans practised on Tuesday and appears to not be seriously injured after exiting last Friday's game against the Ottawa Redblacks with a thumb injury in the fourth quarter.
The Ticats clinched a playoff spot after the Saskatchewan Roughriders lost to the Calgary Stampeders last Saturday.
Hamilton coach Orlondo Steinauer said he expects Evans to get some playing time in Saturday's regular-season finale in Ottawa.
“As of right now, Dane is the guy," Steinauer said. "He seems like he’s ready to go. We’re not going to make any decisions. We’re not going to anoint who’s going to be the starter and who’s not. But he’ll definitely play.”
Matt Shiltz replaced Evans last Friday and guided the Ticats to a last-play field goal for a 30-27 win.
"I can move it. It feels fine. Every day, it’s gotten a little better," Evans said of his thumb.
The Ticats know they will be in Montreal to face the Alouettes in the CFL East semifinal on Nov. 6.
