CFL playoff picture finalized after Roughriders lose to Stampeders

The Saskatchewan Roughriders’ 32-21 loss to the visiting Calgary Stampeders on Saturday took all the drama out of the final week of the CFL regular season.

The result eliminated the Roughriders from post-season contention and gave the Hamilton Tiger-Cats the final playoff spot in the nine-team league.

The Ticats will now hit the road to face the Montreal Alouettes in the East semifinal for the second year in a row. Last year, the Ticats beat the Als in Hamilton in the East semi and advanced to the Grey Cup game.

The Roughriders’ loss, their sixth in a row, means they won’t have a chance to win the Grey Cup on their home field on Nov. 20.
