Elks to start Bethel-Thompson at QB vs. Tiger-Cats, Ford ruled out

Edmonton Elks quarterback Tre Ford has been ruled out for Saturday’s game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Ford was placed on the one-game injured list on Friday after suffering a rib injury against the B.C. Lions last week.

In his place, the Elks will turn back to McLeod Bethel-Thompson who was benched in favour of Ford. The veteran came into the game last week when Ford was forced to leave following a sack by defensive end Sione Teuhema after being chased down by linebacker Ryder Varga.

Bethel-Thompson, who was named the Elks starting quarterback to begin the season, has thrown for 1,959 yards, 10 touchdowns, and eight interceptions but has an 0-7 record.

After coming in to replace Bethel-Thompson, Ford won his first two starts, completing 35-of-45 passes for 473 yards, five touchdowns and an interception.
