NEW DELHI — Former India captain Sourav Ganguly will help in an ongoing probe into allegations of spot-fixing in the Indian Premier League.
Justice Mukul Mudgal, who is heading the probe ordered by India’s Supreme Court, told the Press Trust of India Sunday that Ganguly had confirmed that he was “coming on board.”
Mudgal leads a three-member team that is being assisted by police officials as it probes the role of suspended Board of Control for Cricket in India President and ICC chairman designate Narainswami Srinivasan and other unnamed officials and players in last year’s spot-fixing scam.
The panel, which found Srinivasan’s son-in-law and Chennai Super Kings official Gurunath Meiyappan guilty of being in touch with illegal bookmakers in preliminary investigations, has been asked to submit a detailed report by August.
