GRANDE PRAIRIE, Alta. — Team Gushue beat Team Mouat for the second time in as many days at the HearingLife Tour Challenge, only this time with elimination on the line, as the Canadian club was victorious over the Scottish side 8-4 during Saturday afternoon’s quarterfinals.
Brad Gushue, who scored a 7-3 decision over Mouat on Friday, will now play Niklas Edin in the semifinals after the Swedish squad ousted Canada’s Team Carruthers 5-3.
Gushue topped Edin two weeks ago in the Boost National men’s final in North Bay, Ont., to capture a 14th career Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling title and remains undefeated at 12-0 in the series this season.
The other side of the men’s semifinals bracket sees Team Koe clash with Team Dunstone in an all-Canadian matchup. Koe eliminated Italy’s Team Retornaz 7-5 and Dunstone defeated Switzerland’s Team Schwaller 8-3.
The women’s quarterfinals are up next featuring Switzerland’s Team Tirinzoni vs. Sweden’s Team Wranå, Canada’s Team Homan vs. Canada’s Team Lawes, Sweden’s Team Hasselborg vs. Canada’s Team Einarson and Team Kim vs. Team Gim in a matchup between South Korean clubs.
