PICTOU COUNTY, N.S. — Rachel Homan and her team kept their perfect record intact through the KIOTI National women’s quarterfinals with a 7-4 win over Kerri Einarson during a clash of Canadian clubs Saturday at the Pictou County Wellness Centre.
Homan, who topped the round-robin table to take the No. 1 playoff seed, improved to 5-0 in the Grand Slam of Curling major tournament.
The 13-time Grand Slam champion Homan will now face Anna Hasselborg and her squad from Sweden in the semifinals.
Team Hasselborg ousted clubmates Team Isabella Wranå 8-4 to advance.
The other side of the bracket sees South Korea's Team Eun-Ji Gim go up against Switzerland's Team Silvana Tirinzoni.
Gim, who also remains undefeated at 5-0, got past Italy's Team Stefania Constantini 9-3 and Tirinzoni took down Canada's Team Jennifer Jones 11-4.
Meanwhile, Canada's Team Brendan Bottcher plays Italy's Team Joël Retornaz and Sweden's Team Niklas Edin takes on Switzerland's Team Yannick Schwaller in the men's semifinals.
Bottcher beat Scotland's Team Ross Whyte 5-4, Retornaz downed Team Korey Dropkin of the United States 10-3, Schwaller stopped Scotland's Team James Craik 6-5 and Edin eliminated Scotland's Team Bruce Mouat 5-4 earlier in the men's quarterfinals draw.
